Cold Call a Belt Freeze

October sees the birth of a brand new feature on Black Belt Poker: Belt Freeze.

We understand that players have downtime due to various factors, so for the first time ever we're given you the opportunity to purchase Belt Maintenance.

This means that if you're running bad, jetting off on holiday, or simply want to take a break from the tables, you can do so without the risk of losing your Belt.

With a Belt Freeze, you'll be able to hold onto your Belt for another month regardless of Belt Points, and any points earned during the month of purchase will carry over to the following month.

What's more, you'll still remain eligible for all the rewards and benefits of your frozen Belt Level.

To order your Belt Freeze, simply log in to your community account and select the Belt Freeze that corresponds to your current Belt from the 'Merchandise' section of the Store.

A Belt Freeze costs 50% of your maintenance target. For example, if you are Purple Belt, and don't think you can reach the 1,500 Belt Points required for Belt maintenance but would like to remain at your current Belt level, then you can purchase a Belt Freeze for 750 Spending Points.

We'll then manually maintain your Belt on the first of the month.

So, there's no need to leave yourself out in the cold by dropping down a Belt; order a Belt Freeze and guarantee yourself another month of poker fun and frolics.

After all, a cold deck doesn't always have to be bad...

Please see our promotions page for more information.

Craig Tops the List

The Black Belt Poker League witnessed its penultimate leg of the season this Tuesday as 57 hopefuls took to the cyber felt.

The final table produced a fresh lineup, but one that included three former Champions, one of whom took top honours.

The top dog of League XIV, Craig ChipRead77 McKelvie rekindled that form with a first place finish, overcoming second place Iain 1984IAIN Brassell for a $91.21 prize.

Meanwhile, poor BoraBoraBoy felt the unwanted splash of the bubble in 9th and last week's sole survivor, David liquidpoker101 Manders, crashed out in 32nd.

8th  JosseWales -- $11.68

With just one leg remaining, it's turned into a three-horse race with former League Champion Bob myteamouse Bulman leading the way after a fifth place finish.

A 21st for JHobbit1 means he slots into second place, while last week's leader HoltenderCnaC has dropped to third after stumbling in 38th.

'Liquidpoker101' Makes a Splash

This week David liquidpoker101 Manders hit them for six by winning his first ever League event.

Leg 6 was met by 58 participants; all the usual suspects were present, yet aspersmick12 was missing, presumed lost, passing like a ghost in the night having triumphed the week prior.

Nevertheless, the final table was rather star-studded, with Adam JHobbit1 Saunders and Lord of the Samurai Ken NPStars1 Johnston completing the podium.

1st  liquidpoker101 -- $92.80
2nd  JHobbit1 -- $60.90
3rd  NPStars1 -- $43.50

6th  shaolin4aces -- $16.24
7th  mavperth -- $13.34
8th  scousemanc11 -- $11.89

With the final table boasting a fresh lineup from Leg 5, it's of no surprise that the overall standings are tighter than a violin string with HoltenderCnaC just about holding onto the top spot by 14 points.

Breathing down his neck like a starved alligator are former Champions JHobbit1 and myteamouse, both on 349 points with the former vying for an unprecedented third title.

Despite liquidpoker101's success, the star of the week was undoubtedly Kevin S0lution Birt who won both the Turbo Takedown and Nifty at Nine events to earn a bonus Ninja Season Ticket.

If that wasn't impressive enough, he proceeded to capture a second Season Ticket courtesy of the Orange Belt Freeroll, which marked S0lution's third consecutive tournament victory.

If you think you've got what it takes to echo his achievement, then make sure you join us this Monday from 20:30. If you can top both events, you'll receive free entry into every single Ninja event.

But before then, be sure to check out tonight's returning Unbelievable, Jeff! event.

The buy-in is $10+1 with Black Belt Poker doubling the winnings of any player who correctly predicts the first team to score in tomorrow's 3pm Premiership fixtures.

British Poker Awards: Vote Black Belt Poker

Polish your best shoes and spin your dickie bow... the British Poker Awards are back.

Celebrating their fourth consecutive year, the BPA (in conjunction with Bluff Europe Magazine) will once again be honouring poker's finest soldiers, from the tournament maestros to the cash stalwarts.

For the 2013 outing, Black Belt Poker boast five nominations.

A permanent fixture in any awards ceremony, 2008 Irish Open Champion Neil Channing has snuck his way into no fewer than three categories: Best Blogger, Best Social Media User and Poker Personality of the Year.

Although defending Champion of the blogging crown, the personality title inexplicably eluded him last year, but I can assure you that in the last 12 months Neil has come on in leaps and bounds and is now more scintillating than ever.

2012 APT Player of the Year Sam Razavi, meanwhile, will be giving him a run for his money as he joins him in the personality and social media brackets. With his musical outbursts and repertoire of catchphrases, he could be the dark horse of the bunch.

If you would like to see either of our Black Belts reach the finishing line before the competition, then casting your vote is easy: simply go to thebritishpokerawards.com and tick the relevant boxes.

Once you've submitted your vote, then you'll be thrown into a free draw in which five lucky voters will win a free subscription to Bluff Europe Magazine.

This means you'll get to read my column every single month!

It's been a while since Black Belt Poker prised open the trophy cabinet, so if you'd like to see our staff running the duster through some silverware, then vote now.

Great Scott! 'Aspersmick12' Wins Leg 5

This week's Black Belt Poker League was swamped with familiar names, but it was a fresh face who captured the fifth leg.

Out of the 62 participants it was Michael aspersmick12 Scott who witnessed the congratulatory pop-up, netting $93.00 and a spinning logo for his troubles.

Two players appear to have stayed in their seat from last week: HoltenderCnaC improved on his fourth place by one notch, while BoraBoraBoy followed up his seventh with an eighth place finish this time around.

1st  aspersmick12 -- $93.00
2nd  veg41 -- $62.00
3rd  HoltenderCnaC -- $46.50
4th  CheckNorris76 -- $31.00

7th  Papasnook -- $13.95
8th  BoraBoraBoy -- $12.40

It's like a Fruit Pastilles lolly in the standings with players of all colours dominating the top 10. A second consecutive final table means HoltenderCnaC is the new leader, while ninth place ourkidsid moves up from fifth to third.

A quick glance at the rest of the competition suggests this may be the tightest League to date, with just 23 points separating positions seventh to twentieth.

As always, there are plenty of tournaments throughout the week on Black Belt Poker, and you don't have to wait long to get back in the thick of the action…

Our 'Unbelievable, Jeff!' tournament was so well-received the first time around that we've decided to bring it back for a return leg.

Ticket price costs $10+1 with the starting whistle sounding tonight at 20:00.

As before, if you can predict the first team to score in tomorrow's 3pm Premiership games then we'll double your winnings.

To make your prediction simply post on the official thread on the boards (click 'Groups' in the above menu) before tonight's kick off.

Last time, Samurai Champion Ken NPStars1 Johnston doubled his fourth-place winnings after selecting Arsenal, who scored after just six minutes.

The event can be found in the Black Belt Poker cardroom lobby via Scheduled > Black Belt Tournaments > Unbelievable Jeff.
To download the software, simply click here and follow the step-by-step process provided.

'NPStars1' Shines in Samurai

Swords clashed on the Black Belt Poker battlefield this week as Samurai returned for another night of poker warfare.

The last warrior sitting was Ken NPStars1 Johnston who slew Elysumjay heads-up to capture the illustrious title and $4,000 first prize.

In total, 38 players polished their armour to create a $550 overlay. Among the lineup were Richard Ashby, Jerome Bradpiece, David Pomroy and defending Champion Owen Ruaction Robinson.

Having missed out by one spot last time around, Neil Channing came close once again in seventh (aces cracked by fives). The splash of the bubble, however, was felt by Orange Belt PastiemanCnaC.

Making the money, and consequently the final table, were Black Belt Poker sponsored pro Jamie StilettoMafiosa Burland and East End Live II Champion Nik NikStilly Stylianou.

However, it was NPStars1 who reigned supreme. Hailing from Carlisle, Ken qualified for free courtesy of the Purple Belt Freeroll, and then continued momentum with victory in Monday's Nifty at Nine.

Ken also runs popular poker club Northern Poker Stars for players in the North of England and hosts a weekly online League event on Black Belt Poker every Tuesday at 19:30.

"It was indeed a fantastic tournament," beamed Ken, "and that is not a biased opinion. That [the tournament] was tough to take down and I must say that Jason [Elysiumjay] took some getting rid of.

"It was great to see all of the cash remain in the community, with players that support Black Belt week in, week out. $4,000 from a seat won in the PBF [Purple Belt Freeroll] - I love Black Belt!"

The next Samurai will arrive later in the year, but before then we have the return of Ninja this October 21-27. Check out our promotions page for the complete schedule.

1st  NPStars1 -- $4,000
2nd  Elysiumjay -- $2,300
3rd  NikStilly -- $1,600
4th  eixip50 -- $1,200
5ht  StilettoMafiosa -- $900
