'themackem' Whacks ‘Em in Leg 5
Black Belt Poker’s staple tournament was back in town this week as 54 participated in the fifth leg of League XXII.
Only eight were able to turn their $5+0.50 into something more fruitful, including last week’s Champion dionysian, as well as Leg 3 winner PhilNe2Q who finished runner-up this time around.
The bubble went to kippery who featured in the final two tables for the third time in the current campaign. A dark horse perhaps, and someone to watch with just three legs remaining.
Numero uno, however, was Orange Belt Lee themackem1968 Harrison. $86.40 was his prize, and the 79 points more than doubled his overall tally in the league standings.
1st themackem1968 — $86.40

It’s a rainbow on the podium with orange, yellow and purple all represented. The leader is Tristan tristiano Chaplin, who was the early pacemaker after taking down the opening leg.

Black Belt Poker has been a hot bed of action of late with iPOPS V showering players in value. It’s not over, though; there are still two events, including tonight’s $50+5 freezeout.
The game is No Limit Hold’em and we’re guaranteeing $40,000. If you want to play then check out the tournament now in the lobby by clicking on the iPOPS V tab.
The series culminates in a $200+15 Main Event on Sunday. Satellites are still running, meaning you could take the lion’s share of a $400,000 guaranteed prize pool for just a few bucks.
There’s also a strong chance of an overlay.

iPOPS Stacks Up
If you’ve been feeling the wrath of Lady Luck in this month’s iPOPS then tonight’s event could be the perfect remedy.
At the usual time of 19:00 we’re holding a $100+9 freezeout with a deep-stack structure, giving you more room to manoeuvre and outplay you foes.
In accordance with the rest of the series we’re once again sealing a gargantuan guarantee. This time the prize pool will be set at $80,000, regardless of entrants!
If you fancy a spoon of value in your cup of tea then register now by locating the tournament in the Black Belt Poker cardroom lobby via Scheduled > iPOPS-6H $80K.
Last night we took players to the six-max with a short-handed $30+3 No Limit Hold’em rebuy with a cool $30,000 guaranteed prize pool.
A total of 602 players ambushed the felt, including Black Belt Poker player and MTT pro Martin OMGDannyRudd Malone who finished an incredible second place.
Martin - who came first in last year’s opening $200+15 event for $34,141.28 - picked up a further $6,628.41 in 2013’s winter outing and was just one spot from yet another title.
He wasn’t the only Black Belt Poker casher; NeilLovesToPimp snapped up a tidy $564.12 for 11th, while popthelot and Phobaphobia weren’t too far behind in 27th ($225.64) and 69th ($122.22) respectively.
iPOPS V is quickly drawing to a close, but it’s not too late for you to get your hands dirty. The series culminates in a $200+15 Main Event with a whopping $400,000 guarantee.
If you prefer fewer opponents, however, then tonight at 20:00 you can score a goal bonus in our “Unbelievable, Jeff!” tournament. The buy-in is just $10+1, but if you can correctly predict the first team to score in tomorrow’s 3pm Premiership games then we’ll double any winnings.
Post your team on the official thread in ‘Groups’ to qualify for the promotion
Taking it to the Six-Max
November’s iPOPS is building momentum as we head into the fifth event of the major tournament schedule.
Tonight at 19:00 we’re taking it to the six-max with the first short-handed event of the series. The buy-in will be a mere $30+3 with unlimited rebuys for the first 90 minutes.
We’ve already witnessed overlays in prior events, and tonight could follow suit as we’re guaranteeing an alluring $30,000 prize pool.
If you want to take advantage, then register now via the Black Belt Poker skin under Scheduled > iPOPS-5H $30K GTD.
Last night, a total of 16 Black Belt Poker players tackled the $40+4 rebuy including Blue Belts Jamie StilettoMafiosa Burland and Kevin Kevish47 Williams.
Just two made the cash however: Neil Channing finished in 104th place for $154.05, while fellow sponsored pro David WoodyMcNit Gentry enjoyed a 38th showing for $271.43.
The biggest result this week came from Purple Belt Paul 2LAMCHOP2 Lamomby; he managed a 13th place finish in Tuesday’s $80+8 rebuy for a welcome $1,442.10 payday.
The remainder of the schedule is as follows:
Friday - iPOPS #6H $80,000 GP$100+9 No Limit Hold'em Deepstack Freezeout
Saturday - iPOPS #7H $40,000 GP$50+5 No Limit Hold'em Freezeout
Sunday - iPOPS #8H $400,000 GP$200+15 No Limit Hold'em Freezeout
If you fall short in tonight's iPOPS event, then don't forget that you can jump into our Newcastle Live satellite at 20:00. For just £25+2.50 you could win a seat worth £180+20. Register now.

iPOPS - Overlay Orgy!
The iPOPS (iPoker’s Online Poker Series) returned last night with its major tournament schedule and over a million in guaranteed prize pools.
The opening event of iPOPS V was a $150+10 No Limit Hold’em freezeout with an equally cool $300,000 guarantee and a five-figure payday for the lucky winner.
With just 1,611 hitting ‘register’ our mathematicians at Black Belt Towers calculated a $58,350 overlay - that’s tens of thousands of dollars given away in the very first tournament.
A total of 21 decided to take advantage with Black Belt Poker, including sponsored pros David Gentry, Jerome Bradpiece and 2008 Irish Open Champion Neil Channing.
Members of the community also took a shot such as Craig ChipRead77 McKelvie, Jason Elysiumjay Layland, and Bruce UsainZeus88 Jones.
However it was Blue Belt and former UKIPT Champion Jamie StilettoMafiosa Burland who shone brightest, finishing in 25th place for $1,200.
Also cashing were Martin OMGDannyRudd Malone, Malcolm lionrampant27 Sievwright and Kenneth NPStars1 Johnston in 98th, 154th and 162nd respectively.
The iPOPS doesn’t rest… it’s time to dig deep as we go high-rolling into tonight’s second event of the series.
The buy-in may be $330+20, but the guarantee is an incredible $100,000. If you like big prizes and the chance of another meaty overlay, then this one is for you.
Kick-off is at 19:00. To register simply locate the tournament via the Black Belt Poker lobby under Scheduled > iPOPS-2H $100,000 GP.
See our promotions page for the full schedule.
