Stephen Pearce (top), having headed steadily downwards with occasional peaks back in chips, finally hit the all-in pre stage with the blinds at 100/200. His shoving hand was K-T, called by Vach Nankoosing (bottom) with A-J. No hit for either means the Ace high won the final 1,900 from Pearce and sent another through to tomorrow's round (and probably removed one from tonight's £300 - players are encouraged not to get themselves in a situation where they are two tabling tomorrow).

At almost exactly the same moment, Roland de Wolfe got into a huge confrontation with opponent Marcus Otto (standing victorious in blue here). With around 9k, Roland didn't look like a likely candidate for busting at this blind level, but after Otto flat called a minraise preflop and hit the stone colds with his Q-K - 9-T-J on the flop (with a flush draw on it), something was going to happen. Roland bet 200 on the flop, Marcus raised to 900, Roland called. The turn brought a perfect brick 2c and Otto bet out 2,200 only to find de Wolfe raising all-in! He was snapped and mucked his hand quickly, so we're sadly unable to provide you that final detail...
Following from this, James 'Flushy' Dempsey will be flying the blondepoker flag tomorrow (even though his shirt says SWITZERLAND in huge letters on it) as he busted Talal Shakerchi. "Make sure you mention he got really lucky," added Nicky Evans... to be fair, Shakerchi got his short stack all in with Jacks against Flushy's suited A-3 but he was down to around 3k and when the Ace spiked there was some resigned-looking handshaking and he headed out of the area.
I think that was flushy's ever first live heads up win.
ReplyDeletepass on my congratulations.
Boastin a 1-22 win/loss record i think he may have hit his peak!
