Akenhead Frankly Outgunned
In the break Tony Dobson mentioned that this guy pictured above - Frank Pini - had been prepared to play every pot for lots of chips. Fearless Frank has been a thorn in the side of Dobson and neighbour Akenhead, despite their both having position on him. A weird hand involving him just undid some of the stirling chip-building work Akenhead had been doing so far and this is it:
Akenhead limped for 2k, so did Tony Dobson. The small blind completed and Pini checked. The flop: 2c-Kd-Kh. Check to Dobson who bet 6k, which when it got back to Pini became 21k. Expecting action to return to the bettor, I was surprised to see Akenhead reaching for chips - he did in fact make the call. Dobson passed.
The turn brought the 2d and an instant bet out of 26k from Pini. This was an I'm-not-passing-if-you-shove type bet, and Akenhead deliberated for a while, looking at him and the flop and counting his stack before eventually giving it up. Not a clue what was going on there, I'm not ashamed to admit it.
