Level One, Level Chips?

The blinds in the Final start at 25/50 just like in all previous rounds. This means their 25k starting stacks give them some serious play, and most hands have been contested at least as far as the flop (although both have taken a few with preflop raises, or re-raises). Tom Bentham (pictured) probably has the lead of a couple of thousand, mostly down to having won the largest pot of the first 15 minutes. He'd re-raised Gryko's 150 to 650 preflop, called. The flop brought 4d-8c-Tc and a bet out of 1,000 from Bentham. Gryko called. The turn was the 9s, and Bentham quickly bet 2,275. Much less quickly, his opponent counted out the call, stacked it neatly...then returned chin to hand and came to the 'pass' decision.

A cagey pot a little later saw Gryko check-call 275 on a flop of 5d-2s-9d, having called Tom Bentham's raise to 200 pre. Both players checked the third diamond 4 turn, and the river brought the 3c. Gryko checked, Bentham bet 600 - call. Suited Aces for the both of them, and therefore pot-chopping wheels for both of them, although Gryko's Ah-9h had been in a little better position earlier against Bentham's As-7s...

It just occurred to me that to anyone not au fait with poker terminology, a lot of this blog might look like total gibberish. I quite like the ominous sound of 'pot-chopping wheel' actually.
